Good News on the Antidepressant Front

USA Today is reporting today that antidepressant prescriptions for children declined this year. This news should encourage further cutbacks in unnecessary prescriptions because it shows that therapy and other treatments are proving successful for many.

USA Today quotes child psychiatrist David Fassler:
"We'll need to continue monitoring the situation closely over coming months and years," he says. "The most important question is not how many are taking antidepressants, but whether or not kids are getting the most appropriate treatment possible."
