Most Older Suicide Victims Not on Antidepressants - A study of Danish citizens found that only 20 percent of older individuals who commit suicide were taking antidepressants at the time of their death. The same research though found that only about 10 percent of the drop in suicides among that same group could be attributed to antidepressants.

Alzheimer's Starts Earlier For Heavy Drinkers, Smokers - Reducing heavy alcohol use and smoking could delay the onset of Alzheimer's by years, according to new research. Although the study looked at one known gene variant, APOE-4, that leads to early onset of Alzheimer's, the evidence does not rule out other potential confounding factors, e.g. that those predisposed to smoking and drinking are also predisposed to Alzheimer's.

Mental Stress Reduces Blood Flow To The Heart In Patients With Gene Variation, Study Shows - University of Florida researchers found that individuals with a particular gene variant are nearly three times as likely to suffer from reduced blood flow to the heart brought on by stress, a condition that can create graver heart-related health risks.
