More on Depression from WMHD

For reasons beyond me, the media coverage of WMHD seemed proportionallyvery small. This may be an indicator of just how lacsidasical ourattitudes often are toward the issue.
Tuesday's Hindustan Times did
report
on the events however and threw out a pretty startling quote.
Hamidia Hospital psychiatric department head Dr. R. N. Sahu: "“As perWHO estimate, depression could become the number one disease in theworld by 2020.’’
While newer screening techniques and improvedawareness of the disease have led to a larger number of diagnoses, theWHO's estimatation of depression's current track remains staggering.
